And welcome to a project I simply refer to as “The White Borders!”.
For those who would like some context as to how we’ve ended up here, I shall provide said content.
In 2019, a lot of “things” were happening; all very consequential to one another. I started making music, began working on an EP, got a job at Doc Martens, dropped out of university, and many more events. As I started to develop this new musical landspace (that would be “LOVESPEED!”), the search for inspriation of what my artwork would look like commenced and, around this time, I really got into Polaroids. I just love the simplicity of a photo inside of a white frame. And, since I had a job now, I didn’t mind dropping a pretty penny on a camera. So, sometime during autumn, I went to Argos and bought myself the “POLAROID One Step Plus”.
I truly think this was one of the best decision of my life. The colour grading alone is worth the £119 price point. This piece of tech has seen a lot of places and shot a lot of people; places and people I’d never imagine seeing or meeting in my lifetime. I’ve captured many moments of my life that I’m glad I did. Moments that will, hopefully, last forever.
Now, on the left, there’s a blank Polaroid. This is my favourite Polaroid EVER. It somehow says nothing and everything, evokes so much emotion from inside of me and yet also solicits nothing. I think what I like about it is how easy it was to capture the true essense of the print, from in-hand to its online presence. Nothing that I see in person isn’t not seen here.
I am, by no means, a professional photographer. But I have taken so many photos over the years that it would be shame to hide it from the public forever.
